As you might have noticed, Cris' goal celebrations Sunday were subdued to say the least. In past his celebrations have included choreographed dance moves with teammates, bare skin and questionable hand gestures. Today there was a little pat on the back and half hug and that was it. Considering it was his 150th goal for Madrid, a lot of people (read the media) are talking about it.

Post match he was asked about it and had this to say:
"I am sad and the club knows it, that's why I didn't celebrate the goals,"
The troubling issue at hand is said to be "professional" in nature. Other than that we are Jon Snow in this matter.

The rumor mill is having a field day with this. For instance Guillem Balague is posting hearsay on his twitter feed. (No big surprise really) And then AS just ran with it. But truth be told, they still haven't stopped since the last unfounded rumor.

Personally I like to think it is because he is upset about Esteban being sold. Makes sense to me. After all pretty much everyone else is.

The moral of the story, if the players are feeling crabby post game they should not be allowed to talk to the press. But what do I know, I'm just a fan.

Week 3 ~ Granada at Home:

I never intended to make the 'things to know' posts a regular thing but I am really starting to like them even if no one is reading them.

Things to know:

The game is Sunday at 19:50 local time. If you need a conversion comment.

Our call ups look like this:
* Casillas, Adán y Pacheco.
* Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Albiol, Pepe, Arbeloa y Varane.
* Özil, Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Essien, Modric, Callejón, Di María y Kaká.
* Cris, Benzema e Higuaín.

Granada's looks like this:
Tono, Roberto, Nyom, Inigo, Mainz, Borja, Siqueira, Angulo, Ortiz, Mikel Rico, Moises, Jaime, Orellana, Brahimi, Torje, Floro, El Arabi, Machis

Sadly Karanka seems to think Essien is important for this season. I hope he is just spewing the RM rhetoric. He usually seems fairly intelligent. He is hoping we can capitalize on our recent win with the Supercopa and really so am I. Our recent la liga showings have left me sad. He also talked a bit about Kaka not leaving. I think he is hiding something. Kaka was supposed to be gone. Karanka talked about how it was and we must look forward and do what is best for the team. Yes, I'm jaded on the subject. Kaka should be gone. Prove me wrong.

Fabio Coentrao is suspended. :(

Granada's Manolo Lucena had a knee knock during training. Pape Diakhate is recovering from an ankle injury. Their midfield is missing Fran Rico (RM Castilla 2008–2011) and Hassan Yebda.

We haven't gone three games without a win since May 2009. I would like to see that stand. Granada is on a four game winless streak in la liga with a carry over from last season. Lets hope we can make it five.

Cris cost more than the entire squad Granada have assembled.

We are 5 points behind Barcelona, not where we want to be. Clearly.

If you have a link to watch it , please share in the comments. If you want to talk during the game, comment. I'll be here.

So I came home and checked the mother ship to see if my pipe dream had come true and Kaka was gone (it hadn't) and discovered that a miracle had happened.

To FC Anzhi Makhachkala specifically. So excited! News on this front seems hard to come by. One source insists it is only for a season. But his contract expires next season and if they are loaning him out now I don't think a renewal is likely. In finding news I saw him referred to as a nightmare. I giggled.

ETA: I know youbeboy just made a post with the official announcement but I needed to celebrate so I'm not deleting this part of my post. You understand I'm sure.

In addition we acquired Michael Essien. Clearly Mou still loves Chelsea players. But this one is only a season long loan. The 29 year old is yet another midfielder to add to our collection. He has had a few injury issues lately. Last season it was his knee. With any luck he won't be another older made of glass player for us. Lord knows we don't need any.

And while we are on the subject of transfers, here is what the Castilla's transfer season looks like. This wonderful chart courtesy of @Pamela___ I'm pretty sure she has a lj too but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

The Castilla players are addictive and lovableCollapse )

In addition, Esteban my not be on our books anymore but he is still in our hearts. And he has clearance to play Saturday. Yay! So watch his debut and love him. He deserves it.
The game is Saturday Sep 1 @ 12:30 ET, 9:30 PT, 5:30 Eng & 6:30 Esp against Manchester City @ Etihad Stadium.

First Pirate, now this and in looking for pics I found out daylife abandoned us. This is not a fun day to be a Madridista. At least Messi didn't win another player of the year. Miniesta got the honors this time. I can live with that.

Iker was balding, no one can deny it. No matter how much you love him you have to admit that. But now he isn't. What the hell? Was it Rogain? Implants? During the Euros he was balding, now not so much. What happened?
